NZEB definition

The definition, which was fully implemented in the national legislation in 2015, is structured around three basic requirements:

  • Primary energy consumption conforming with class A on the national scale
  • Minimum share of renewable in the building's energy balance.
  • Restriction of the maximum share of electricity in the building's total energy balance.

Class A for residential buildings, which has to be achieved for NZEB Standards, is defined at between 48-95 kWh/sq.m/year in primary energy, including all sources of energy consumption.

RES

In the adopted Class A (NZEB) definition, the share of RES from the energy demand for heating, cooling, DHW and ventilation is set to a minimum of 55%.
