Madrid, Spain

Climate data :
The Madrid region features a Mediterranean climate[53] (Köppen Csa)[54] with cool winters due to its altitude of (667 m (2,188 ft) above sea level), including sporadic snowfalls and minimum temperatures often below freezing. Summers are warm to hot with average July temperatures ranging from 31 °C (88 °F) to 33 °C (91 °F) depending on location. Summer temperatures occasionally climb over 40 °C (104 °F) during the city's heatwaves. Due to Madrid's altitude and dry climate, diurnal ranges are often significant during the summer. Precipitation is concentrated in the autumn and spring. It is particularly sparse during the summer, taking the form of about two showers and/or thunderstorms a month.(1)

Short description of this project:

Office building Cantera de Empresas. The Cantera de Empresas office building is a compact, half-buried “passive” building. Exemplary features of the building are among others the green roof with autochthonous vegetation, a large glass surface on the south face, with protective eaves and sunshades, as well as small windows in the north face. The building was constructed with healthy and biocompatible materials. For the water management of the building, a rain water recovery system was installed.(2)
